I have been with Advanced Hearing Services for three years, and the time has truly flown in the best possible way. I have had the privilege of meeting and helping so many wonderful people – which is why I chose this field in the first place.
I have a unilateral hearing loss myself and have been wearing a hearing aid for nearly a decade. My hearing loss was found through the standardized school hearing screenings. The etiology of my hearing loss could not be determined after a series of scans and testing. I was 15 years old when I was fit with my first hearing aid. At that time, I was left feeling confused with a lack of understanding of what was happening to me. I felt like there was something wrong with me, and nothing was effectively explained so I could understand what hearing loss meant.
I currently am on my third hearing aid and have used two different brands over the years. The last two hearing aids have been with the brand named Oticon. The current hearing aid I wear is the standard of care within our clinic and has led to an experience with noticeable improvement in sound quality. Since wearing the standard of care, I have noticed great improvement in clarity and communication. It has been incredible to see how much modern hearing technology continues to evolve.
I have always been drawn to helping others, especially after my own experiences. I wanted to work in a field where I could make a real impact and avoid having others feel the way I did. I went on to study Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Northern Colorado, graduating with my bachelor’s degree in 2023. I later shadowed at Advanced Hearing Services and joined the team shortly after. Under the mentorship of Susan Baker, I completed my licensing and board certification in late 2025.
Over time, I have come to fully embrace my hearing loss and use it to connect with and educate others. I have learned that hearing loss does not define me—it is simply part of my story. I have spent a lot of time in the booth and hearing clinics over the years and can have an understanding for what the patient is experiencing from the anxiety of what can happen to the relief of being able to accurately hear.
My goal is to create a positive, supportive experience for every patient I work with. I strive to listen, educate, and help individuals truly understand their hearing loss and their options. There is still significant stigma surrounding hearing loss and hearing aids, and I am passionate about helping patients feel confident, informed, and empowered to hear their best.
